In-Person visits to your school for 2nd, 5th, 7th, and High School

- “Action in the Classroom for Second Grade” helps students explore how human actions affect natural resources in their local environment. Through interactive learning, students discover simple choices they can make to reduce their impact on land, water, air, and living things.
- “Action in the Classroom for Fifth Grade” guides students in evaluating solutions to environmental challenges faced by communities. They will explore how human activities—such as agriculture, industry, and daily life—can significantly impact the land, vegetation, waterways, and oceans, and learn how their personal choices can help reduce these effects.
- “Action in the Classroom for Seventh Grade” leads seventh-grade student through identifying and conserving natural resources, groundwater and energy, and gives an overview of recycling in South Carolina. From investigating what we throw away to thinking about how we can save renewable and non-renewable resources, students are given practical, hands-on lessons to help them get the facts they need to think for themselves, form opinions, make decisions and take action.
- “Action in the Classroom for High School Environmental Science” provides South Carolina-specific support to the environmental science high school course curriculum focusing on relevant environmental issues — including solid waste (reduction and recycling), air and water.
- All presentations are aligned to the current South Carolina Academic Standards and Performance Indicators for Science 2021.
Virtual Presentations
Available through Zoom or Google Meets for all grades k-12
“Action in the Classroom” virtual presentations are open to all grade levels, K-12 and provide an overview of recycling in South Carolina as well as lessons about buying recycled, food waste reduction, composting, water and air quality related to waste reduction, litter prevention, energy conservation and other environmental initiatives.
All presentations are aligned to the current South Carolina Academic Standards and Performance Indicators for Science 2021. Some lessons include standards for Social Studies as well.
